39He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
Mark 4:39
I love rainy season because of the breeze it is giving us every time it rains. Even the wind blows hard… I can still smile, very welcoming for me. For I know there will be more rains, even storms, that will pass in my life and I will be there to face them… welcome them. ![]()
There will be times in our lives, whether we want it or we don’t, we will face storms. The literal storm or the storm in the spiritual realms. Just like the apostles of Jesus experienced when they were sailing in the ocean. A great storm came and threatened their lives. They were so afraid. Most of them were fishermen we know. They know when a storm can threaten their lives or not. They know when is the good weather to fish or sail in the ocean. This means that the storm they had encountered was indeed a no ordinary storm.
They were terrified though they know that the Lord was with them. And because the storm frightens them they immediately woke up Jesus saying, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” – Mark 4:38. You will notice here that our Lord, Jesus Christ was so calm. He even fell asleep in the middle of the storm. So then why did the apostles were so afraid while Jesus was not? Or the question might be, what makes Jesus stay calmed while His apostles were not?
Often times we tend to focus on the problems that we encounter and make us more worried and depressed thinking about them. We even zoom our eyes to the mountains in our paths that we really don’t get the big picture that God is there, and is everywhere. And it affects our hearts and eventually turns our minds into a fearful spirit. This is not what God wants us to be. He wants us to be victorious in our spirit so that in every storms that will come to our lives we will be there facing them courageously because we know that our Lord Jesus Christ is with us.
